As Chil so very kindly asked us if we are all having a nice summer, I thought we all might like to add snippets to a 'site blog'.
When Owain's back he can tell us all about the jamboree, and Dan might come and tell us some of the things he did on his camp. We can all report back when we've been on holiday, but generally, we can just keep a diary of all the ordinary day-to-day things we are doing this Summer.

First week of the hols, we did lots of mass bedroom tidying, with short breaks every couple of hours for a bit of surfing.
DrT and Dan were away for the week, and we got loads done.
Exciting (not!) trips to charity shops, the tip, etc, to get rid of all tidying.
We went swimming on Monday and Friday, and girls went to a story and craft thing at the library on Tuesday.
My nieces came round to play one afternoon and Jo went to a party one day too.
One day a friend came and borrowed the girls, as she wanted to go to the Nature Centre and her children (both in their mid-twenties) refused to go with her  Wink
We took the car in for a service, and the next day went to buy a new tyre.

-See, just the hum drum ramblings of what you've been up to will do fine-

I will add my two penn'orth -

Just back from the Lake District.  We had a whole week there and never wore a kagoul, or even a jumper!  Had a couple of barbecues and ate out every other night.  Did loads of walking and had a boat trip on Windermere.  Went to Ambleside Sports and saw C&W wrestling, fell running, hound trails, cycling and sprint races.  Spent a fortune on fairground rides and sideshows.  The place we stayed had a swimming pool and table tennis, so we packed the boys off there while we adults took some cold lagers up to the crag at the top of the site and sat in the sunshine.  Fantastic!  Cheesy

No, this is a temporary one, just for the Summer Hols, so we have a chance of being able to maintain it.

Yesterday we did a supermarket shop and went swimming later.
Today we've done a school uniform shop, been to activities at the library, and now have people round to play

I am already feeling envious of Danmum.  My equivalent blog for the entire summer holidays would be:

Mon - Fri : Went to work
Sat - Sun : Cleaned, washed, ironed, shopped, ferried the boys to/from golf

Apart from my few and far between holidays that is!

(11 days until Portugal!)

Yes, but remember, this is to try to claw back some of those hours I work extra every week during term time.
I set myself a little job every day (such is the excitement of my life), like today we've had a mass clearout of the coats cupboard - I've got 7 coats now waiting to go to charity shop!   and every glove now has it's own matching friend.
Yesterday I emptied out the cupboard where I keep all the sheets / quilt covers / pillow cases........   Undecided sorry, ....... is anyone still awake ?    Embarrassed

OK here is what I've been doing.
The 1st week of the holidays I went on camp with my Dad's scouts.
We went kayaking, archery and rifle shooting - they were my 3 favourite things.
We went climbing and to Badger's Warren (pot-holing). Both these were very scarey and I didn't want to do it. Both of them though, I went back at the end and I did manage them. I was very pleased with myself.
We went for a hike for one day.
We had a campfire every night and sang songs and had cocoa and cake.
In free time, we went on a rope swing over a little river.
The food was even nicer than Akela M does on cub camp.
I made some new friends and hope I can go on lots more camps with them and with St L scouts.

Great to hear you are havng a brilliant holiday Dan, what have you been doing in the second week?

The food was even nicer than Akela M does on cub camp.

Ohh...You will have to let us know what you ate on camp, maybe we can try a new menu sometime... you have to cook some of it yourself in a patrol?

We didn't have to cook any of our own meals on this camp (we did have to wash up though).
One nice meal was a chicken stew with some lovely soft bread rolls, but all the food was nice, particularly the cocoa.
We only had full cooked breakfast some days, some days we had pancakes  Tongue. Everyday there was cereal, fruit,, and yoghurt. My fave is a full cooked English breakfast, jointly tied with the pancakes breakfast

I'll write it out later cos I am still too excited about something else right now, my dad has got an email from some Leaders from the South African Scout Association, they have asked my dads permision for them to invite me to a free holiday in South Africa at the end of next year. They will be doing something in August next year, but their main celebration will be during December which is thier summer break.

That sounds really good.  Would you all be going?

My entry for the last day or so.

Ten Pin Bowling and Frankie & Bennies yesterday with bro and his son, and papa.

Then, in the afernoon, inflated the 10ft swimming pool and set about filling it.  Did not realise it would take so long - about 5hrs!

Also realised though that the area we set aside, is not quite as level as we thought. One end is £ft deep, the other 2½ft deep!

Oh well, all pools have shallow and deep ends!

Debating whether to try it today or not, but feel it ought to warm up a bit first!

Danmum - can you send your tester round for us?

The trip does sound really good, and a sort of once in a lifetime kinda thing.

The problem with this blog thing is it make me realise how slow moving and dull my life is at the moment, without Cubs, Civsoc and Uni all I have really is work, and a lot of time to socialise. This is nice but hardly stuff to write about, if I said how many times I have been tpo the pub in the last few weeks you would think I was an alcoholic!

However I do have an interview for a job next week (eek) and am going to visit some family.

Then, in the afernoon, inflated the 10ft swimming pool and set about filling it.  Did not realise it would take so long - about 5hrs!

Now it's full how are you going to get it round to my house?
